Today as I was reading Acts 17:24-28 I was struck with a revelation from God. But first a quick back story:
The last 8 months has been an incredibly difficult journey. It has been filled with ups and downs, good days and bad days. It has been, to say the least, a journey. There are days when I cursed it. I wished I had never set out on this “adventure”. I wanted to go back home and pretend this never happened. What I didn’t realize (until today) was that as I was cursing the journey, I was in fact, cursing God. Here’s why:
Acts 17:24-28 tells us that “ From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live.” (essentially He created us, our steps, our path and journey for one simple reason:
“God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him“
So all this time, as I cursed the journey, I cursed God’s good intention of trying to get closer with me. He is relational! He loves to be with us, so much so that he will set your steps on a path to draw you to him. He may even make the road crappy, but it’s still his journey for us, to lead us to him.
So, when you hit a rough patch, don’t curse the journey. Remember, he wants us to reach out to him. To draw closer to him.
